Bot Risk Disclosures
Last updated: May 7, 2026 · TradeShield
1. Automated Trading Carries Substantial Risk of Loss
Trading cryptocurrencies and other financial instruments using automated software is highly risky and is not appropriate for everyone. You can and may lose some or all of the funds allocated to a strategy, plus any borrowed funds in margin or leveraged accounts. Past performance, backtests, simulations, paper-trading results, screenshots, default templates, and example parameters are not indicative of, and do not guarantee, future results.
2. You Are the Trader
Every order placed by a TradeShield Bot, scheduler, Auto-Protect rule, or other automation is placed at your direction, on your Exchange account, using your API credentials, against parameters (instrument, side, size, schedule, stop-loss, take-profit, daily cap, max drawdown, max hold time, asset class, plan tier) you configured. TradeShield is a software tool that submits the orders you have pre-authorised; we do not exercise discretion over your account and are not your agent, broker, fiduciary, portfolio manager, or investment adviser.
3. No Performance Representation
We make no representation, warranty, or guarantee — express or implied — that any bot, strategy, signal, default parameter, AI analysis, or template will be profitable, will outperform any benchmark, will avoid losses, will execute at any particular price, will fill at all, will respect any stop-loss within any time bound, or will behave in any specific way under live market conditions. AI strategy analysis (verdicts, scores, suggestions) is a heuristic/AI-generated commentary tool only and is not a recommendation.
4. Failure Modes You Accept
Without limiting the generality of the above, you specifically accept the risk of:
- Scheduler downtime and missed cycles.
- Duplicate, stuck, or out-of-sequence orders.
- Orders submitted during a flash crash, gap, low-liquidity, or halt window.
- Exchange rate-limit rejections, exchange outages, exchange-side cancels, and API key revocation.
- Clock skew, time-zone misconfiguration, and network partitions.
- Third-party data-feed errors (price, circuit-breaker, market-hours, news).
- Bugs in TradeShield code, in any exchange adapter, or in any third-party library.
- Server-side rate limiting on stop-loss, drawdown, or time-exit enforcement.
- Any combination of the foregoing.
5. Safety Features Are Best-Effort
Stop-loss, take-profit, trailing stops, max drawdown, max hold time, daily caps, market-hours gating, circuit breakers, options-block-trade gating, plan-tier sizing limits, kill switches, and Shield Status are technical safeguards implemented on a best-effort basis. They may fail, lag, be bypassed by exchange conditions, or be misconfigured by the user. They are not a substitute for exchange-native risk controls. You must maintain independent stop-losses, position limits, and the ability to disable your API keys at the Exchange.
6. Paper Trading Is Not Live Trading
Paper-trading results are simulated using indicative prices and idealised fills, with no slippage, no partial fills, no rate-limit rejection, and no market impact. Live trading will differ — sometimes significantly. Do not infer from paper performance that a live deployment will perform the same way.
7. Monitoring Obligation and Kill Switch
You agree to actively monitor every bot you run and to immediately pause, disable, or revoke its API key the moment you no longer wish it to trade. Continuing to run a bot after observing unexpected behaviour is your decision and your liability.
8. Hold-Harmless for Automation Outcomes
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you irrevocably release, waive, and discharge TradeShield, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, costs, fees, and expenses of every kind — known or unknown, direct or indirect — arising out of or relating to any order, fill, missed fill, drawdown, liquidation, or other outcome produced by any TradeShield Bot, scheduler, Auto-Protect action, recurring order, or other automated feature. The aggregate liability cap and arbitration clause in the Terms of Service apply in full.
